Community Fundraiser Expands Library's Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Collection
September 1, 2020

A recent community-led fundraiser, spearheaded by community member, Kevin Gebert, raised more than $2,500 to support the library's collection of books focused on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) issues. The funds raised supported the purchase of approximately 180 DEI books (!), including many titles that are currently in high demand with long waitlists. Congressman Joe Neguse stopped by the library to learn more about the effort and celebrate its success. Many thanks to everyone who contributed to this important fundraiser!

Read more about the DEI fundraiser in the Colorado Hometown Weekly.

It's not too late to support the library's DEI collection! Just visit our Donate page for information on how to make a donation to the library's Foundation and indicate "DEI" on your check or donation to direct your funds to this effort.

Libraries create valuable opportunities for learning, support literacy and education, and help shape the new ideas and perspectives that are central to keeping our communities creative and innovative.

The Louisville Public Library offers hundreds of services and programs each year, from 3D printing in the Makerspace to the new Read Baby Read play area to adult computer classes to Anime club for teens, and much more. But what you may not know is that the Louisville Public Library is supported by a foundation that helps bring these ongoing services and programs to the library throughout the year.

If you are looking to get more involved, consider joining the Louisville Public Library Foundation’s board. The board meets every other month beginning in January. Applicants must reside in Louisville or Superior. For more information, please contact the Foundation at 303-335-4800 or louisvillelibraryfoundation@gmail.com.
