The Louisville Public Library Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, actively manages an endowment and accepts donations to support the Louisville Public Library. The endowment is a permanent investment, designed to provide long-term support for the Louisville Public Library. Through proactive management of that endowment, the LPLF consistenly gives above and beyond public donations to the library every year. The foundation gives tens of thousands of dollars to critical programs such as e-book collections, the Summer Reading Challenge, art installments in and around the library, and necessary equipment and supplies. While the endowment helps bridge funding gaps, it’s not enough to cover the library’s growing needs, especially as costs rise and programs expand.
2025 donations are especially needed to support the following:
Growing our collection of eBooks and audio books
The Summer Reading Challenge, including a free book given to each participant who completes the program!
Program support, such as Reading Buddies and Teen Tech Week
Community events, such as First Friday events and Art

Corporate Giving: Ask at your workplace about corporate giving and if the LPLF would be a good fit for your company.
Matching Gifts: Some employers match their employees’ charitable gifts. Check with your Human Resources department to see if your company supports a matching plan.
Tribute Gifts: Some of our donors give to celebrate birthdays or special events or to remember friends and family members at their passing. A tax-deductible donation of $30 or more allows a library staff member to select a book or books to commemorate a loved one, inscribing a memorial book plate with the honoree’s name. Contact Jill Siewert at (303) 335-4812 for more information.
Planned Giving: A gift through your will or living trust contributes to the long-term sustainability of the Library Foundation’s endowment and is a commitment to the future of library service to area residents. After consulting with your attorney and financial planner, please let us know if you intend a charitable contribution to the Library Foundation to help ensure that future generations will know the rewards of an excellent public library.
